Intellectual disability

An intellectual disability is any form of disability that handicaps or disables intellectual functioning (like learning and problems solving) as well as adaptive behaviour (like communication and independent living).  Intellectual disabilities affect around 2-3% of the total population, and around 80% of that number has a mild intellectual disability.  Those with severe cases may need to have assistance with daily living for their whole lives.
