Halloween

Halloween is a commercial holiday where many activities take place.  The most common is trick-or-treating, but people can also go to costume parties, carve pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, go to a haunted house, tell scary stories and watch horror movies.  Halloween started as a All Hallows’ Eve, a day to remember the dead.  This included the saints, who were also known as Hallows.  The traditions of modern day Halloween were thought to have been passed on from All Hallows’ Eve, where Celtic harvest festivals and pagan traditions took place.
