Adjustment disorder

An adjustment disorder is a disproportionate stress response to a change in a person’s life. The level of stress or emotional response is considered more than what is expected to the change. The disorder can manifest in different ways producing different types of symptoms which may include: anxiety, depressed mood, disrupted emotions or conduct, trouble sleeping, lack of appetite, difficulty with concentration, withdrawal, avoidance, suicidal thoughts or behavior, or some combination of these.
